Resumen

El problema de la autonomía estratégica de la Unión Europea (UE) está siendo objeto de gran interés dentro de los círculos políticos de la Unión. Este término, originalmente impulsado por Francia y enfocado principalmente a la defensa, ha evolucionado para incluir un conjunto más amplio de consideraciones de seguridad como la economía, la salud o la tecnología por citar unos pocos. Sin embargo, este concepto retiene todavía una importante dimensión de defensa. Este artículo explora este asunto en profundidad, principalmente en relación con la dimensión de la defensa, pero también observando los aspectos organizativos, industriales y tecnológicos relacionados, intentando identificar las principales restricciones que pueden acotar o poner en riesgo esta deseada autonomía.
