Las debilidades detectadas en el mercado eléctrico y cómo subsanarlas han sido objeto de estudio en la literatura académica desde hace años. Sin embargo, no ha sido hasta la actual crisis energética cuando ha habido interés político en emprender una reforma. En este artículo se analiza por qué ha sido así y cómo el debate actual está fuertemente ligado a los intereses nacionales sobre el rumbo de la política energética e industrial europea, lo que va a condicionar su resultado.
