Abstract

Financial crises have very serious and long-lasting consequences for countries. As damaging as they are, they have become an unfortunate and recurring fact of life, and no country seems immune. This article analyses the main lessons from the 2007 global financial crisis, with a focus on its political dimensions. This analysis is crucial at a time when the global economy is exposed to economic and geopolitical risks that may affect the financial system, with potentially serious consequences for our societies.
